Belden由Belden Inc.和Cable Design Technologies Corp（电缆设计科技有限公司）于2004年7月合并而成。中文名称：百通(BELDEN)。百通(BELDEN)是美国最大的高速电子电缆生产商之一，致力于为专业电子和包括网络连接在内的数据联网市场提供产品。

百通(BELDEN)的历史

自从Joseph C. Belden于1902年在美国芝加哥创立百通(BELDEN)公司以来，百通(BELDEN)已经成为品质与发明的同义词。

百通(BELDEN)的首次重大突破出现在1905年。那一年，经过多次试验，百通(BELDEN)公司发明了 “Beldenamel”绝缘材料。这种柔韧的珐琅绝缘材料为该公司初创时期的成功奠定了基础。1910年，百通(BELDEN)公司搬到芝加哥几处较大的场所，并在其产品线上增加了橡胶绝缘材料。

1927年，由百通(BELDEN)一位工程师发明的软橡胶插销使公司的业务得到进一步扩展。百通(BELDEN)公司在印地安纳州瑞奇蒙市设计建造了一座主要生产电线的新工厂并于1928年投产。

第二次世界大战及随后的十五年间，百通(BELDEN)瑞奇蒙工厂又增加了一些新厂房，扩大了生产规模。电线工厂的经营从芝加哥转移到瑞奇蒙，瑞奇蒙工厂完全实现独立自主，70多年来该工厂一直是百通(BELDEN)最大的生产厂，占地面积近70万平方英尺。

1942年以前，百通(BELDEN)的生产被严格限制于军用物资，它的产品用于坦克、飞机、车载雷达、潜艇、舰船、吉普车和其他各类武器。

战后，百通(BELDEN)公司通过研究、设计和产品开发逐渐在电线和电缆技术领域建立了领导地位。百通(BELDEN)公司是率先将塑料绝缘材料应用于电线和电缆制造的厂家之一。百通(BELDEN)着眼于精密和高质量产品的需求，致力于高附加值的绝缘材料、电缆、防护和护套材料的生产。从初创时期起，百通(BELDEN)就力求按照客户的需要，确定生产什么和如何生产以及如何有效地将产品推向市场。

1980年5月，百通(BELDEN)公司的电子产品部搬到位于印地安纳州瑞奇蒙市南部的新总部大楼。同年9月8日 百通(BELDEN)与位于纽约市Syracuse 的一家著名的电气产品制造商Crouse-Hinds 公司达成合并协议，并于当年12月10日正式合并。1981年4月10日，总部位于得克萨斯州休斯顿市的Cooper工业公司收购了这个由Belden 和 Crouse-Hinds 合并组成的经济实体。

1993年10月百通(BELDEN)公司再次成为独立公开上市经济实体，在密苏里州的圣路易斯市开设办事处。百通(BELDEN)一直遵循扩张战略。公司为其电子业务综合部增加了多个子公司。1995年百通(BELDEN)收购了几家在荷兰设有运营机构的公司。1996年 Belden 宣布收购Intech电缆公司和Alpha电线公司的Alpha电线产品部。1997年，百通(BELDEN)公司又收购了位于马萨诸塞州莱奥明斯特市的Cowen电缆公司。1998年，百通(BELDEN)公司又收购了位于澳大利亚墨尔本市的 Olex 通信电缆公司以及领先的德国制造商Elektro-Isolierwerke GmbH（EIW）。1999年，百通(BELDEN)公司又从西门子手中收购了两家位于澳大利亚和匈牙利的公司。

1999年，百通(BELDEN)完成了对前ATT铜缆工厂的收购，后者易名为Cable Systems International。2000年，前英国金属电缆公司Corning又被百通(BELDEN)收购用以拓展其通信业务。

2002年，百通(BELDEN)收购了为加拿大和美国的客户提供通讯电缆的Norcom公司。2003年，百通(BELDEN)完成了对Norcom工厂的收购，并关闭了位于澳大利亚和德国的生产厂。

2004年，百通(BELDEN)退出了北美的通信电缆业务，关闭了北美地区的主要通信电缆工厂。

百通(BELDEN)的收入从1993年的不到4亿美元增加到2000年的逾11亿美元，在兼并Cable Design Technologies之前的2003年，百通(BELDEN)公司的收入为8.27亿美元。

Cable Design Technologies Corporation（CDT）成立于1988年5月18日，主要办公地点位于费城的匹兹堡，但该公司的某些运营机构已经有100多年的历史了。
